About
From its inception, Gallery ILÉ has been dedicated to championing the careers of artists whose practices are redefining contemporary African art.
Merely three years of age, Gallery ILÉ is quietly earning a reputation for showcasing both trailblazing and critically acclaimed contemporary African artists to worldwide audiences.
With a curatorial focus investigating the mediums of painting, sculpture and photography, The Gallery endeavors to foster, promote and develop the careers of exceptional artists, through an ambitious program of exhibitions, showcasing often for the first time in The Netherlands, a corpus of thought provoking works by mavericks such as Wabi Dossou,Nathanaël Vodouhè, Louis Oké-Agbo, and world renowned modern masters such as Dominique Zinkpè and Gérard Quenum.
Although predominantly anchored in the rich cultural lineage of Benin, Gallery ILÉ will gradually expend its representation to artists from Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast and other countries leading the 'Nouvelle Vague' of contemporary art in West Africa at large and its Diaspora worldwide.
